Even today, 255,000 women in Africa die each year due to complications in childbirth, and 1.2 million children die within their first month of life. Doctors with Africa CUAMM cares for mothers and newborns through its program "Mothers and Children First: 1,000 of These Days." This initiative guarantees vital healthcare support for both mother and child during their first 1,000 days—the critical span from the beginning of pregnancy through the child's second year of life.
Mothers and children are a legacy to be protected. We at Zamberlan want to do our part so that a joyful event like birth is never overshadowed by suffering. On May 9th and 10th, in celebration of Mother's Day, we will donate 15% of our online shop revenue to support Doctors with Africa CUAMM and their crucial project.
Mothers and Children First: 1,000 of These Days
Focusing on maternal and child health is a constant commitment for Doctors with Africa CUAMM. Active across seven African countries (Angola, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda), the organization runs the "Mothers and Children First: 1,000 of These Days" program. Their goal is to ensure assisted childbirth for 320,000 women, provide nutritional care for them and their children from the start of pregnancy to the child's second birthday, and treat 10,000 children suffering from severe acute malnutrition.
